Helping children thrive where they live, learn, and grow.

Parenting Complex Kids

Early childhood experiences set the stage for later development and adulthood.  A happy, engaged child is a learning child, but a child who is constantly in tears, aloof, or overstimulated can experience a great deal of difficulty learning from and interacting with other people, including family members.

PCK offers parents a 'Coach Approach' to solving some of the most challenging issues that can arise during early childhood.

Our Mission

PCK Coaches believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life. That's why our mission is to provide parents of very young children with the support they need to enhance their child's developmental outcomes through everyday activities. We're committed to helping families create a nurturing environment that promotes growth and development, and we're here to support you every step of the way.

The Coach Approach & Consulting

PCK Coaches are highly skilled at understanding and interpreting early childhood behaviors, or lack thereof.  We provide parents with insight and information, then together, we develop simple and straightforward strategies and solutions. Your PCK Coach can teach you how to harness powerful learning opportunities  within activities you are already doing on a daily basis with your child.  The PCK Coaching Model empowers parents by showing them how to give their child daily opportunities to practice developmental skills that are important and valued by the family.  We empower children by building their capabilities and skills within routines they already know and understand.

Support for Parents of Complex Kids

Behavior

Challenging behaviors can get in the way of social relationships, particularly the relationship between you and your child.  PCK Coaches help parents understand reasons why the behaviors are occurring and help you develop ways to respond to that behavior so that it enhances parent-child relationships and oftentimes, your child's communication skills as well.

Sensory Processing and Attention Skills

Does it seem like your child is either melting into the couch or bouncing off of it?  Is it hard for your child to sit still long enough to learn a new skill from you?  The answer might be linked to sensory processing.  Your PCK Coach can help you identify what might be causing nor not causing behaviors to occur AND show you what you can do at home to improve your child's ability to sustain attention so they can learn more from others, especially YOU!

Communication & Language

Is the quality of your child's communication skills preventing them from engaging more fully with your family or peers?  Is communication difficult for your child?  It doesn't have to be!  Your PCK Coach will show you how to enhance your child's communication and language capabilities by capturing learning opportunities throughout 'everyday' caregiving experiences you are already doing with your child.

Motor Skills

Very young children learn by interacting with their environment.  Are motor skills impeding your child's ability to access learning opportunities?  PCK Coaches help parents identify developmentally appropriate motor skills that your child needs and your PCK Coach will help you identify opportunities to develop those targeted skills within your daily routines.

Family Engagement

Does it ever feel like every time you step away, chaos happens?  Do you suffer from sibling squabbles?  Our PCK Coaches look deep into the cause of such behavior and provide parents with a better understanding of what could be done to address the issue(s) in a positive way which supports learning opportunities and enhances relationships among family members.

Educational Consultation

Do you want to know how your child could be more successful in the classroom where the currently are? Are you concerned about your child's school placement or educational plan?

Our PCK Coaches are also Educational Consultants.  We're also parents of children who had or have had, IEPs and/or IFSPs.

We have been there, done that, and we're ready to support you, your child, and your child's teacher(s)

"Now only five weeks into therapy, Joseph communicates with us more than ever. With Mary's help, he is more accepting of all foods. Joe has started to count and sing his ABCs. He said Mama for the first time *twice* yesterday, which was also my 34th birthday. It was the best birthday gift ever.  I finally feel I am providing my son with precisely what he needs for the first time since we knew he wasn't typical. We no longer feel discouraged. Instead, we feel very empowered and uplifted."
